Nightstands/Bedside Tables

I know. Another table post. Last one. I questioned doing it because we've already had two (even though they were about living rooms, not bedrooms) but I said I would so here goes! Hope you find something helpful, or at least interesting... :-)

As I mentioned in previous posts, think outside the box on what you can use. Is there a piece that you already own that is not called a nightstand, but could be used as one?

How about suitcases? This photo is from House Beautiful, but Pottery Barn also shows the idea here

Nightstands don't have to match but they should be the same height, if possible. I went with mismatched in my bedroom and they're not quite the same height, so I made up the difference in the lamp heights and the overall effect is balanced.

they used inexpensive tray tables topped with a mirror. To see how they did it click here.

Have you ever seen floating nightstands? I see them used occasionally and I’m intrigued by them. HGTV gives you a tutorial on how to make one here, and Candice Olson uses the idea here. Could you also take the legs off of an existing piece of furniture and mount it or would that be too strange? What are your thoughts on the idea?

Skirt a table. In this case the skirted table is functional both for the bed and the chair. If you're interested in making your own table skirt, there are instructions here and here.

If space is an issue, mounting a shelf like this would be a good solution!

Of course this is a great idea for a room where you just really don't have any room beside the bed.

Night stand height - ideally should be at least as high as the top of the mattress

This ottoman looks like it's working well in the small space available in this room.
